Job Description

Our client is seeking an IT Asset Manager to be responsible for their business practices that join financial, contractual, and inventory functions to support lifecycle management and strategic decision-making for the IT environment. The Asset manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining an effective IT asset management program in order to minimize the incremental risks and related costs of advancing the IT portfolio of projects.


Location: San Jose, CA
Length: 6 Month Contract (Potential to extend or convert to direct hire)
Type: W-2 Contract (NO Corp to Corp)
Work Schedule: Remote (PST Work Hours)
Hourly Rate: $50hr. – $70/hr.


– The ideal candidate will be a key part of the Operations Management team within the IT department. The goal is to establish and maintain the organization’s asset management processes.
– Act as the prime facilitator for asset modeling and redistribution programs to control costs between various IT suppliers, Legal, Indirect Procurement, and Service Tower Leads.
– Ensure continuous control and accounting of all hardware and software assets.
– Develop, prioritize, and maintain various asset management plans. Participate in the mapping of assets in the IT environment to suppliers ensuring their use is optimized.
– Create and maintain asset profiles and dashboards.
– Develop, execute, and maintain an asset management program including processes, procedures, tools, and reporting of both software and hardware assets.
– Manage asset compliance and risks including internal and external audit activities.
– Seek and negotiate asset cost reductions where possible and participate in the budget process.
– Monitor asset performance against goals and develop reporting methodologies (dashboards, key performance indicators (KPI’s), and SLA reporting) to support corrective action.
– Develop knowledge of and relationships within the various IT business units to facilitate asset planning processes and understand related issues and constraints.
– Foster and maintain sound and supportive service-centric business relationships with all constituencies including IT management, corporate finance and management, and IT departmental contacts.
– Responsible for asset modeling, validating, and tracking for all technologies.
– Develop policies and procedures to support IT asset management and continuous improvement.

Required Skills/Experience:

– Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Finance or related discipline or equivalent experience.
– Education or commensurate experience is required for the advanced business, analytical, and problem-solving skills required for the position.
– 5+ years of IT work experience, preferably including resource management, asset management, hardware/software procurement, and/or vendor relationship management.
– Knowledge of and experience with ITIL and ITAM best practices, including IAITAM and/or ITIL Foundations certification.
– Knowledge of the various types of asset management models within Information Technology in a SaaS environment.
– Knowledge of various business system licensing practices and models, including SaaS, PasS, and on-premise systems.
– Ability to prepare, review, and distribute monthly operating agreement level reports to the CSuite, senior IT management, and business leadership.
– Ability to establish and document asset management processes, guidelines, and policies.

Soft skills:
– Proven experience implementing cost takeout opportunities for software and hardware; working knowledge of common contractual issues for hardware and software asset management.

Additional Requirements:
– Must be able to lift over 40 lbs.
– Must be able to read a 14” monitor screen at resolutions of 1024 x 768.
– Requires travel as needed to support other locations and disaster recovery testing.
