Job Description
We are seeking a Solution Data Architect / Sr. Data Engineer for a 6 month plus contract for our San Jose based technology client.
Duration: 6 months plus W2 contract
Location: Near San Jose, CA or Remote from Pacific Time Zone
Work hours: Monday – Friday, normal business hours in the Pacific time zone
Pay Range: $100 – $130/hr + benefits (Only W-2, No Corp to Corp)
The offered compensation to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include (but are not limited to) the type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc.)
This role will report directly to the Director of Data Engineering and Enterprise Reporting and will help our client continue the design and architecture for their systems supporting data products and system components / microservices. This is a hands-on role that will design and implement data architecture and services to improve data lifecycle effectiveness and efficiency. This person will enforce industry best practices and discipline to turn data into a strategic asset and build advanced data solutions and capabilities to foster data-driven decision-making.
Responsibilities:
– Engage product owners, architects, and engineers to understand requirements and produce designs and data models that will meet those requirements in a way that factors in performance, availability, security, scalability, maintainability, and extensibility.
– Recommend and prototype technology to improve the current systems in support of organization’s strategic vision
– Responsible for the execution of the system architecture roadmap within a line of Product, or for a main platform (or platform component)
– Responsible for translating business requirements into specific systems, applications, data or process designs for very large complex IT solutions and integrating architecture.
– Design database environments, analyze production deployments, and make recommendations to optimize performance
– Implement data governance platform strategies for operational, privacy, security, and other related control areas
– Create the definition, documentation, and development of mapping rules for the movement of data from disparate data sources and into the various components and subject areas of the data governance environment
– Build data models including robust data definitions, entity-relationship-attribute models, as well as relational and/or dimensional models
– Work closely with data engineers to derive logical models from the physical implementation of data structures.
– Identify potential for cost savings through ELT, storage optimization, budget allocation.
– Determine integrated hardware, software and data architecture solutions that meet performance, scalability, reliability, and security needs.
– Lead on architectural governance and decisions related to Product, Technology and system tradeoffs as part of a cross functional architecture decision group
Qualifications:
– Minimum of 7 years of experience developing/architecting on Big Data / AI platforms
– Minimum of 4 years of experience with Snowflake
– Extensive hands-on experience in data warehousing design, tuning and ETL/ELT process development
– At least 3 years of experience with Data Modeling, with common modeling standards
– Should have some experience with MDM (Master Data Management) architecture
– Proven experience in architecting and refactoring complex systems, as an architect, team-leader or a senior team-member
– Software and database development experience
– Program Management experience
– Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field
