Job Description
Software Verification Engineer
We’re seeking an experienced Software Verification Engineer to support the verification and validation of software used in manufacturing equipment, automation systems, and related applications. This role requires a hands-on professional with strong expertise in manual and automated testing, software quality assurance, and formal verification processes within a collaborative engineering environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with R&D, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to develop verification strategies, execute test plans, and ensure software products meet quality and regulatory requirements. This position requires onsite work to perform testing on physical equipment and devices in a laboratory setting.
* Location: Onsite In San Diego, CA
* Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 pm
* Duration: Aug 2026 – Feb 2027
Compensation: $52.00-64.75/hr W2 plus benefits.
Key Responsibilies:
* Collaborate with R&D, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to develop and execute software verification strategies for manufacturing equipment, automation systems, and software applications.
* Design, develop, execute, and improve manual and automated verification tests.
* Create detailed test cases from user stories, business requirements, and functional specifications.
* Develop verification plans, test protocols, test reports, requirements traceability matrices, and release documentation.
* Review business and functional requirements to create effective test strategies and test cases.
* Perform functional, integration, and system testing on manufacturing equipment in the laboratory environment.
* Lead the architecture, development, and execution of automated test suites and manual test cases.
* Utilize defect tracking, test management, version control, and CI/CD tools throughout the software development lifecycle.
* Participate in software requirements and design reviews.
* Collaborate with internal teams and external automation equipment providers to ensure software meets business and technical requirements.
* Analyze test failures, defects, and build issues, driving resolution through completion.
* Identify opportunities for process improvement and support continuous quality initiatives.
* Provide technical assistance for escalated production issues as needed.
* Stay current on emerging software testing methodologies, tools, and technologies.
Education & Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent field.
Required Qualification
* 5+ years of experience in software or system verification:
— Writing detailed test cases from requirements and user stories.
— Manual testing and test result tracking.
— UI and API test automation.
— Testing web applications and APIs using automation frameworks such as Selenium, Ranorex, RestAssured, and Cucumber.
— Using source control systems (Git) and industry-standard CI/CD practices.
— Using defect tracking systems such as Jira.
* Strong object-oriented programming experience in Java, C#, or similar languages.
* Experience implementing and utilizing defect tracking, test case management, requirements management, and traceability tools.
* Strong experience creating verification plans, software verification reports, test protocols, test reports, and release documentation.
* Experience reviewing business and functional requirements and translating them into comprehensive test strategies.
* Hands-on experience with Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, Git, and Git workflows.
* Experience using data monitoring and analysis tools such as Splunk.
* Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases, including writing and executing queries.
* Experience with tools such as Visual Studio, IntelliJ IDEA, Eclipse, DB Visualizer, Ranorex, Jenkins/GitHub Actions, JAMA, .NET, Java, and C#.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience testing and supporting software for instrumentation systems.
* Experience working in FDA-regulated medical device environments.
* Knowledge of GAMP 5 and 21 CFR Part 11 requirements.
* Understanding of automated manufacturing systems, including electrical and pneumatic controls, sensors, metrology systems, and PLCs.
* Practical knowledge of manufacturing automation technologies, including MES and SCADA systems.
